Jef and Lori's Climbing and Caving Trip

Time isn't holding us; Time isn't after us.
--Talking Heads

In June of 2003, Lori and I (that is, Jef) are taking off to be climbing and caving hoboes for a year (if our money lasts). This collection of pages is relating to that trip.

At first glance, you may be thinking, "Oh, this is one of those self-indulgent 'Bob and Judy from Peoria see the Great Outdoors' home-pages. That is wrong. We are not from Peoria. Other than that, you pretty much nailed it. However, I'm a lot more sarcastic than Peoria Bob, so if you enjoy a high-handed, punitive sort of humour, you might get a smirk or two.

Also, this is an adult page, for two reasons. The first is that I might possibly discuss adult topics like committed relationships, personal fulfilment, the quest for identity. The second reason is that I may well use the 'f' word. Climbers do that with astonishing predictability. .

I'm not going to discuss or describe f-ing. That aspect of our trip is none of your business. But the word may pop up unexpectedly. I understand that you may wish to protect your off-spring from exposure to this Great Word of Power until after they are married, and I support this decision. Thus I've provided this friendly warning.

FAQ about the Trip. Some frequently and not so frequently asked questions about the trip. Email me with your questions and maybe they'll show up on the page! Won't that be fun?
Ghost Girl is the car we bought for the trip. The page reads like a sarcastic ad for the Honda Element.
Journal is a day by day account of our trip. So far, it's kind of boring in spots, but the coolest parts (ie., crawling through the caves) don't translate into narrative very well.
The Theresa Page is a tribute to our friend, without whom we could not have done the trip.
Our Bird List is a list of the bird species we've seen on the trip. If you're not one of our birding friends, you might find it a little dry.
Rockhopper's Cave Page has more information about caving. If you've never been underground before, this is a good place to start. If you're already a caver, you won't learn much except how much of a jerk Rockhopper can be.
Rockhopper's Climbing Page is like the cave page, but about climbing.
