Conformation Showing

To achieve a Championship in Canada, the dog must gain 10 points under 3 different judges. No more than 5 points can be won at any single show. The dog must win at least Winners Dog or Winners Bitch to gain points and the number of points won depends on the total entry in the classes.

Some Show Terms:

Winners Dog (WD) - the best male in the breed from the non-Champion classes
Reserve Winners Dog (RWD)
- the runner-up male
Winners Bitch (WB)
- the best female in the breed from the non-Champion classes
Reserve Winners Bitch (RWB)
- the runner-up female
Best of Winners (BW)
- the best of either WD or WB
Best of Breed (BB)
- the best male or female from all classes including the Specials (Champion) class
Best Puppy in Breed (BPIB)
- the best dog under the age of 12 months in the breed
Best of Opposite Sex (BOS)
- the best male or female opposite to whoever achieves BB
Group 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
- the top 4 placements within the breed's Group
(eg. Shetland Sheepdogs belong to the Herding Group)
Best Puppy in Group (BPIG)
- the best dog under the age of 12 months in the Group
Best in Show (BIS)
- the best dog in an all-breed show
Best Puppy in Show (BPIS)
- the best dog under the age of 12 months in an all-breed show
Best in Specialty Show (BISS)
- the best dog at a single breed show
