The Birth of Delamantha

Sheba as a puppy Carol Watt was born in the small town of Kenora, Ontario, Canada, in 1939. Her first sheltie was named Delilah. This was Carol's beloved pet who awakened that deep love of the breed. The next sheltie in Carol's life was Wynfield's Samantha who was bred to Ch. Alford Tam O'Shanter whose Helensdale background introduced an English gene pool to the Delamantha line. This produced a very sound bitch named Delamantha's Desiree. Her kennel name, Delamantha, was the name blend of Delilah and Samantha.

Delamantha's Desiree was bred to Ch. Manor Pride's Ragamuffin, also with Helensdale background, to produce Delamantha's Dove. Dove, a very sound bitch, was taken to Ch. Halstor's Peter Pumpkin to gain that Peter look for future Delamantha generations. The result of that breeding is history. Am/Can Ch. Delamantha's Desiderata was born of that breeding. To the left is Sheba at 7 1/2 months. Her sound structure, exceptional shoulder layback, excellent top line are evident. When Sheba was bred to Ch. Calcurt Luke to produce, Ch. Delamantha's Daybreak, the quality was set for many generations to come.
